Water Goddess 2009, Sept 4-7, Star Camp Shasta

Welcome to Star Camp Shasta 2009:
A sustainable alternative to Burning Man
Located about 6 hours North of the Bay Area, surrounded by Klamath National Forest, Star Camp Mt. Shasta is 40 acres of privately-owned land with many trees which provide shade for camping, and two freshwater snow-melt lakes. That’s right, LAKES & COOL H2O!
The upper lake is called “Indian Lake” and the water is crystal clear with hovering dragonflies. There is a sandy area around the lake for chillin’, and the swimming of course is refreshingly awesome! The lower lake is shallow and dries up towards the end of the summer. Not to worry though, because what is left is a huge, lush pasture-like meadow with lots of parking, and of course, lots of room for a SOUND SYSTEM. The nearest neighbor lives about 10 miles away and will be at the party!!! And there are no surrounding homes anywhere nearby. (Pity! NOT!). The sound is contained by the surrounding trees and mountains, so there won’t be anyone telling us, “TURN IT DOWN!”
Due to the abundance of water, this year’s theme is “Water Goddess”, as an homage to all the beautifully cool Yin energy out there that keeps the fiery Yang in balance. Not to say that we wont be burning some huge fires at night with all of the previously logged wood out there because, rest assured, we will. Oh yeah! We’ll stay warm for years to come, guaranteed!
We are aware that the economy is going through some turbulent times right now on its way to a grand recovery, so, our goal is NOT to get rich from hosting a campout party. Rather, we have kept the cost down to a minimum to cover costs for two sweet sound systems and other incurred expenses. If there is any money left over it will all be put back into continuing to develop the land. This year (If the well-drilling Gods are with us) we hope to have a well for fresh drinking water in place before the event date! The cost for a limited-time event membership will be set at a mere $20.00 for four days of camping and music! (Pre-event limited-time event memberships are now: buy-one-get-one-free… if you both carpool up together). Although this is a non-commercial event there will be essentials vendors.
The event will take place over the Labor Day weekend from Sept 4th – 7th 2009. That’s 3 nights of music from Friday through Monday on two confirmed sound systems. Our first sound system will be kindly provided by Arwin Adams and is known as “Dilated Sound”. Why might it be called that you ask? Well, it consists of 8x self-powered Mackie bass bins along with some tops which should provide lots of juicy bass for all you bass freaks. There will be a diverse range of music played on this system from some House, to Techno, to Darker Psy to Morning Psy trance. The predominant genre will be PSYTRANCE. The second chill-out down-tempo system is a tri-amped high-end British-made EAW system kindly provided by Grady and Ross which sounds really tight and super clean. It will provide soothing beats to calm and enchant your soul (We are still looking for more talented house/down-tempo/chill/breaks/DJs). Sorry, but it’s pretty much volunteer basis
only, but hey, what an opportunity to shine and become known right?
We will provide the canvas for you to co-create this magical event. We would like to see some form of ritual connection with spirit at this event. So what do we ask of you in return? We are putting out a call for all those interested in participating towards making this event into a very special occasion as we will also be celebrating the host, Goldilox’s, birthday on Saturday! Again, this is your event. A sustainable, community-based network of forward thinkers has the power to make change happen and re-connect with spirit. “They created their own happiness, they created their own paradise”. Let’s make it happen. (All visions & inspirations need to be approved first).
